A Synology NAS is an independent, intelligent computer connected to your local network. Running the browser-based Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, it allows multiple computers, smartphones, and televisions to stream media, share files, and run backups simultaneously.

• Role in the Setup: The physical media where your data is permanently written.
